Month in review - February Recap

Is it really March already? Oh wait…yup, we’re already a week into this month, which means Q1 of 2023 is already starting to wind down and I was NOT prepared for how quickly these first few months of the year were going to fly by. Before we get too deep into the month of March I wanted take a moment to share some personal highlights from February, and wow—what a month it was! The past several weeks have been a really fun and exciting time for my business. From hitting new goals to doing my first pop up shop event of 2023, going on my first glamping trip and more, the month of February was fun filled and busy, busy, busy! Here’s a recap of some of the highlights from February and what I’ve been up to! How was your February? Let me know in the comments!

Glamping Trip with Getaway

To celebrate my husband’s birthday this year, we decided to do something a little different and celebrate with a weekend getaway! We went glamping for the first time ever in Brown County at the Indiana Outpost for Getaway. These tiny cabin homes are the perfect tranquil oasis for a peaceful stay in nature as you relax, unwind and enjoy the great outdoors. We had fantastic weather and spent the days hiking, relaxing by the campfire, and the evenings roasting marshmallows and cooking hotdogs over the grill. I even spent some time painting outside at the picnic table, soaking up the sun and wrapped in my warm wool blanket. I listened to Fleet Foxes and City and Colour as I worked on my watercolor landscape and I felt so completely at peace and happy. Before bed we spent some time with the lights turned out in the cabin and the window shade pulled up so that we could just stargaze and watch planes go by in the night sky. It was honestly a magical experience, and we can’t wait to go back! Check out a behind the scenes video of my watercolor painting here!

We also vlogged the entire trip, so you can check out our special glamping experience by pressing play on the video below!

Galentine’s Pop Up Shop

This past month I was asked to be a vendor at a private event for Ali Alvey Real Estate! Ali pampered her guests with a Galentine’s Client Appreciation Event. Among the featured vendors was My Designs, a hand painted jewelry business with the prettiest designs, permanent bracelets and necklaces by Blondie + Gold (I bought one for myself during the event), hand picked bouquets with my dear friend Karly of Camino & Co, and after guests were greeted with shopping and welcome cocktails, we all gathered in the dining room for an elaborate and fun wine tasting with Mallah Heeter complete with delicious pairings of cheeses, chocolates and artisan crackers. It was a night to remember!

Indiana Peony Festival

I got accepted as a vendor again for this year’s Indiana Peony Festival! This event is going on it’s third year in the running and it’s always an absolute blast. Bustling with people in search of treasures and precious finds from small business owners and those on the hunt for the finest flowers and peony bouquets, this once-a-year festival is always worth the wait! Not a fan of the biggest fan of racing? Don’t worry, there’s more to celebrate in Indy in May than just the Indy 500! May is becoming the month of the peony! This must-attend celebration of our state flower is something I look forward to every year and I’ve already been working on some new designs to have at my booth, including this adorable peony + Indiana inspired doggy bandana that my dog Dolly got to model for us! I can’t wait to see what people think of the new arrivals at this year’s festival!

Valentine’s Day Custom Portraits

Holidays are always a busy time for my business when it comes to custom portraits and this Valentine’s Day was no different! I spent the first half of the month working on quite a few couple portraits that customers were gifting to their special someone to celebrate. It’s always so fun to create something so personal for customers and packaging up these orders once they’ve been printed and finalized is one of the best parts.
